Free Welcome Back PS3 games offered now that the Playstation Network is back

I'm not a huge gamer - Little Big Planet, and the original Portal are my favourites, but I'll download my two free games, sure, now that the Sony Playstation Network is back... Here's the list, and some details on each of the games to help me ( and you ) decide. In North America the choices are:

  • Dead Nation
  • inFAMOUS
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Super Stardust HD
  • Wipeout HD + Fury

Use the links below to decide which games you'd like, then open the 'Welcome Back' tab in the PlayStation Store to download your free games.

*Update* I haven't tried downloading my free games yet, but it sounds like there are a lot of people trying, so there are some delays and errors. Take a look at Sony's FAQ here before you give it a try.

Here are the details on each:

Dead Nation

IGN score of 7.5 or 'good' - Kill those zombies, but with some planning and strategy, released in November 2010 with a 'M for Mature' rating. The full IGN review here

inFAMOUS

Third person action game in a very open ended environment - IGN rating of 9.2 or 'amazing'. Released in May 2009 with a rating of T for Teen. Full IGN review here.

LittleBigPlanet

A classic for sure, with an IGN rating of 9.5 or 'amazing'. Calling it a side-scroller doesn't do it justice - it has such character, such consistency, AND a wonderful level building and tons of community levels. We probably weren't the only ones who decided to buy a PS3 just to play Little Big Planet. It is rated E for Everyone. The IGN review is here.

Super Stardust HD

An arcade shooter; try and keep your space ship safe and blast away at all those rocks. The oldest game offered, originally released back in June 2007. Rated E for everyone. IGN gives it a score of 8.7 of 'great' and you can read their review here.

Wipeout HD + Fury

A futuristic racing game released in July 2009, rated E10 for Everyone 10+. IGN gives it a score of 9.2 of amazing' and you can read their review here.
